The basic idea behind Maslow's hierarchy of needs:

  • Abraham Maslow, a human psychologist proposed a hierarchy based on human needs and arranged in a sequence from primitive to human.
  • Psychological needs: These are basic needs for survival such as hunger, thirst.
  • Safety needs: These are needs to get rid out of any real and imaginary both physical and psychological nature.
  • Belongingness: One can't live alone and needs others company.
  • Esteem needs: Individuals should develop a sense of self worth should fulfill his belonging needs.
  • Self-actualization: These people knows their fullest potential.
