In vaccination, a mild form of microbes of infected disease is injected as vaccine into a healthy person. When the immune system of that person first comes in contact with any infectious microbe, it responds against it, and the next time if that microbe enters the body, the immune system responds to it with even greater vigour. This eliminates the infection more rapidly. This is the basic principle of immunization.

The principle of vaccination is based on property of 'memory's of the immune system.
In vaccination a preparation of antigenic protein of pathogens is introduced into the body . The antigens formed the major immune respond by producing antibodies.
The vaccine also generate the memory B-cells and T-cells. When the vaccinated person is attacked by the same pathogens, the existing memory B-cells or t-cells recognise the antigen quickly and overcome the invaders with production of lymphocyte and antibodies.
