◾Causes : They are mainly caused by bacteria such as Escherichia coli, shiga - toxin, shigella, clostridium botulinum.

◾Sign and symptoms : Frequent loose motions, and vomiting which lead to dehydration, eyes appear sunken, nose is pinched.

◾Affected body organ : Intestinal infections, including food poisoning.

◾Mode of transmission : Contaminated food, water, clothes, drinks, hands, bedsheets, utensils, etc.

◾Control : Complete bed rest should be ensured, anti - diarrhoea agents, ORS, etc must be taken.

◾Prevention :

▪️Eatables should be covered to prevent their contamination.
▪️Fruits and vegetables should be properly washed before use.
▪️Proper personal hygiene as important.
