Like any other child of his age, the child in the story was very excited
at all that he saw at the fair. He wanted his parents to get him something.
Unfortunately, the boy never got the love of his father who was a tyrant and
never cared for his son. The mother was always very submissive to the father
and hence the boy never got his mother’s affection as well. Although he was
deprived of his parents’ love, he loved them very much and felt secure in their
presence. This can be seen by how the child is inconsolable when he finds that he
has got isolated from them in the fair. Although he was offered all that he had
earlier asked his parents by someone who found him crying, all that he wanted
was his parents. Also, he loved his mother more than his father as he kept
asking for her first.
