iron and many other metals react with oxygen and moisture present in the atmosphere this close the outer surface of the metal this phenomenon is called corrosion the corrosion of metal like Iron due to the attack of air and moisture is called rusting which requires the presence of both ear and water rusting of iron objects can be prevented if these are kept out of the reach of moist air HOPE IT HELPS.
