These common diving breathing gases are used: Air is a mixture of 21%oxygen, 78% nitrogen, and approximately 1% other trace gases, primarily argon; to simplify calculations this last 1% is usually treated as if it were nitrogen.

Oxygen is the most vital in the mixture and is in a metabolically ative form. It constitutes about 21% of the whole mixture. The rest of the gases are inactive and only serve to dilute oxygen
Nitrogen is also available at 78% and the rest which are inert gases take up 1%.
