Composition of Protoplasm:

The amount living cell present in the cell is called as protoplasm. Collectively nucleus, cytoplasm and cell organelles are called protoplasm. It is composed of bio-elements which are classified as major bio-elements and minor bio-elements. The former comprise 99% of protoplasm and they are as follows,

  • Oxygen
  • Carbon
  • Hydrogen
  • Nitrogen
  • Calcium  
  • Phosphorus

The latter comprises 1% of protoplasm and they are as follows,

  • Sulphur
  • Potassium
  • Sodium
  • Chlorine
  • Magnesium
