answer : option (b) sp² sp³d sp³d²

we should find no of bond pairs and lone pairs of each species.

for NO⁻₂ ⇒no of bond pairs = 2 and lone pairs = (5 + 6 × 2 + 1 - 8 × 2)/2 = 1

total = 2 + 1 = 3 so, hybridisation = sp²

for SF₄ ⇒no of bond pairs = 4 and lone pairs = (6 + 4 × 7 - 8 × 4)/2 = 1

total = 4 + 1 = 5 so, hybridisation = sp³d

for PF⁻₆ ⇒no of bond pairs = 6 and lone pairs = (5 + 6 × 7 + 1 - 8 × 6)/2 = 0

total = 6 + 0 = 6 so, hybridisation = sp³d²
