The active antenna arrays are widely used in different applications such as wireless radio system, radar or satellite communication. In some of the applications the antenna array consists of large number of radiating elements or sub-arrays. There always a possibility of failure of one or more elements in a large geometry array. The failure of the element in the array destroy the radiation pattern. The replacement of the defective element of the array is not possible in every occasion. The replacement is a very difficult task in the space platform configuration. But without replacing the defective element the radiation pattern can be restored with minimal loss of quality by controlling the excitations of the unfailed antennas of the array from the base station. Several techniques have been reported for this compensation process [1][2]. In order to apply these compensation techniques it is necessary to know the number and position of the failed element in the array. One solution to the above problem is the inclusion of calibration system in the active antenna array system. But the inclusion of such a system in a small platform is rejected as it increases the volume, weight and cost.
