Infection refers to the process of invading and multiplying of microorganisms inside the human body by disease causing agents and producing toxins. These microorganisms generally comprise parasites, viruses and bacteria that are usually not present here. A few common examples of infection causing microorganisms are ticks, tapeworms, ringworms, fleas, lice and fungi. Some popular infectious diseases are HIV/AIDS, meningitis, tetanus, hepatitis B and diarrheal diseases. The standard method adopted to combat infection is to use anti-infective drugs depending on the microorganism that caused the body to be infected.
