The difference between apparatus and materials is that an apparatus is an instrument that has proper measurements whereas the materials are substances that are used in the experiment.
Majorly the apparatus is a non-consumable entity and materials are entities that are consumed during an experiment. Both are used for experimental procedures and are important for the conduct of the experiment.
For example, when you weigh protein powder, the weighing balance is an apparatus while the protein powder comes under the material category.
