the main difference between fog and smoke is that fog is the presence of content ground near to earth but smoke is gas which is nearer to earth but it is not made up of water vapour it is made up of toxic gases instead.

Fog is water-vapour in atmosphere which condenses due to low temperature & forms dense white thing in the atmosphere whereas smoke contains particles emitted when a material undergoes combustion.
