A leaf is a common organ of any plant. There are two main types of leaves: a simple leaf and a compound leaf. A simple leaf is the standard common leaf that grows on a branch or a stem.

A leaflet refers to a small leaf or a leaf-like part of a compound leaf.

  1. Leaflets are the part compound leaf .They do not produce auxillary bud in their axile .
  2. They do not directly connected to the stem directly .They get connected with with the help of primary rachis are secondary rachis and this rachis only connected with the stem .It is only segment of a leaf.
  3. Leaf either entire or incised attach with the stem In the axil of simple or compound leaf auxillary bud develops.
  4. Leaf is the usually flat organ  and green that represents the most prominent feature of vegetative plants while Leaflet is (botany) one of the components of a compound leaf.
  5. Auxiliary buds are found in leaves but absent in leaflets. Another difference is that leaf produces leaves while leaflet acts as foliage for leaves distribution.
  6. Leaf means green and flat organ of a plant , anything resembling leaf of plant , sheet of book or magazine etc.
