What is the difference between metonymy and synecdoche in the following sentences? Justify your answer
1) He has many mouths to feed.
2) The kettle is boiling.
3) Education extends from the cradle to the grave.

Metonymy is a figure of speech in which the name of an idea or thing is substituted for another name that the other name is closely associated with whereas synecdoche is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase which refers to a part of something is used to represent the who and vice versa.
