Petrol is the British name for what Americans call gasoline and French call l’essence.

The French, the Brits, and the Americans call diesel fuel, diesel.

Both are refined from crude oil. Gasoline is lighter and more volatile, flammable. Diesel is a heavier and oilier fuel used for diesel engines. In a diesel engine the air is compressed and heated and fuel injected to ignite in the hot air. In a gasoline engine fuel and air is compressed first but ignited by a spark plug.

hope it's help uuu

Petrol, also known as Gasoline, is a transparent fuel derived from crude oil and is used as fuel in internal combustion engines. Petrol is separated from crude oil from 40°C to 205°C. Diesel is a liquid fuel that is used in diesel engines. It is commonly derived from crude oil. Petroleum diesel or petrodiesel is produced by distilling crude oil between 200 °C (392 °F) and 350 °C (662 °F) at atmospheric pressure.
