Potential difference can be defined as the total difference of ions between the two terminals of a cell or battery

If the electric potential difference between two location is 12 volt then one coulomb of charge will gain 12 rules of potential energy when moved between those two location because electric potential difference is expressed in units of walls it is something referred to as the voltage
