HOLA friend!!
Rajdeep here......
What is the difference between Nominal and Real executive head in India?
One important point to remember:
India follows a Parliamentary form of government, hence, the Prime Minister has the real authority. The President is only a nominal head.
Hence, the President of India is the nominal head of India and the Prime Minister of India is the Real Executive Head of India.
So now, what is the basic difference?
=> The real executive head, i.e., the PM is the head of the Council of Ministers. His resignation or removal means resignation of the whole Ministry.
The President, being a nominal head, needs to function on advice of the Cabinet Ministers, headed by the Council of Ministers.
=> The real executive head, i.e, the PM is elected directly by the citizens of India (actually the President appoints the PM. The leader of the majority party of the Lok Sabha is appointed as the PM, and members of Lok Sabha are directly elected by the citizens.
The President, on the other hand, is elected indirectly to save time and money and also to ensure that the main power remains in the hands of the PM.
=> The Most important point: The President need not attend important meetings of the Cabinet. The PM presides over the Cabinet meetings and his decision is the final decision. It is the PM who is responsible for keeping link between the Cabinet Ministers and the President of India.
Hope my answer is satisfactory....
Thanks!! (^_^)
