Thermal decomposition is basically how easily a compound's bonds can be broken, for example let us take the 15th group of the periodic table, we say that the thermal decomposition is more as we go down the group, because the atomic size increases and thus bonds become weaker, so they are easily broken.
whereas thermal dissociation is a type of chemical reaction in which the reactant decomposes reversibly due to application of heat
