We hoist the flag on both days but the major difference is :
On 15 August we celebrate independence day as India became completely independent on this day
On 26 January our constitution was formed & India became republic (a state in which supreme power is held by the people and their elected representatives, and which has an elected or nominated president rather than a monarch).
Therefore,we celebrate republic day.
