What is the differences between positive and negative acceleration​

Acceleration of a body is defined as the rate of change of its velocity with time.

Velocity of the body increases with time. 

Retardation means negative acceleration. If the velocity of a body decreases the acceleration is negative. then we can say that theretardation of the body is 5 m/s2.

When an object is speeding up, the acceleration is in the same direction as the velocity. Thus, this object has a positive acceleration.
