Before venturing any further into the word of computers laptops and other such devices we need to know what they are actually comprised of and what are they actually .

if I start speaking in a literal sense,
I will most probably say that this is particularly no such a big difference between normal personal computer and laptop despite the fact of small and big screen .

so let's see what the world of Technology and the world of computers comprises of:-

u know what? but there is a little complication..
in order to explain what is the difference between a computer and a laptop. . we need to know what is actually a computer and what is actually a laptop.

if I speak more clearly a laptop is a type of micro computer

WHAT IS A COMPUTER?
computer is basically a device which can perform simple as well as complex calculations with its programming basics and can give valid results and outputs of integrated data and information which can be useful for us for creating various type of data bases and conserving data for various useful purposes

computer can perform 4 main functions they are input output processing and storage.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF COMPUTERS?
there are basically many types of computer in the present present world with different types of functions for each of them but they are some main types of computer which are described in this answer.

while studying the computer basics we usually, class four main types of computers which are:-

1) a supercomputer:-
2) mainframe computers
3) mini computers

4) micro computers:-
we all use micro computers in daily life such as our smartphones tablets PDF laptops personal computers and etc they are made for single user and I usually have sufficient amount of Storage for normal use and they are really cost effective and reliable.

today their applications are seen in every field and are getting day by day more advanced the field of Technology. free no money well known manufacturers of them such as Toshiba, Hitachi , Dell, Apple etc.

as you may see my laptop is just a type of a computer and is much smaller than it.

however its usual characteristics and works remain the same and almost all works that can be done by a personal computer can also be done by a laptop.

the differences that arise and mainly in the screen resolution the screen size some operating systems and of course the the advantage of less space in laptops.

I assume the question is related to Desktops and Laptops...

A computer can be of multiple sizes. The computers we use generally at home or  offices are microcomputers called desktops. The laptops and desktops are both microcomputers.  They are both used primarily by a single person. They are used for development, documentation, data entry, social media, connection to internet etc.  Most of the available facilities are same on both.

But there are some differences.

1.    Laptops are meant for persons who can afford higher prices. They are meant for high profile persons and persons who could work at any time of the day. Desktops are meant for all persons.

2.   Desktops are not portable. Laptops are. Reason is that they are smaller and lighter.  This is the main reason that laptops are used.

3.   Laptops have inbuilt screen, pointing device and keyboard. Actually fingers are used instead of a mouse. Desktop computers have all input and output devices external to the box.

4.   Laptops have less disk capacity. They work on a rechargeable battery. Recharging batteries is an important task for those users.

5.   Laptops give an additional measure of secrecy. Desktops are more or less shared usually.

6.   Memory (RAM) capacity in a desktop could be more than in a Laptop.

7.   Laptop gets hot quickly. Users can feel it as laptop is kept on the body sometimes. For a desktop there is no such problem.

8.   Laptops have less computation power compared to desktop computers.
9.   Laptop repairs cost more.

10.   If we come to hardware specifications, the screen, hard disk, mouse (pointing device) are different.

11.   Some laptops have biometric identification (for login or starting).
12.   Some laptops have touch screens too.  Desktops usually do not have these.
