Thanks for question!!

Equivalent weight:- The ratio of formula weight of a substance to the it's valency is called equivalent weight.

eq.w. =  \frac{formula \: weight}{valency}

Gram equivalent weight:- The ratio of the weight of given weight to the equivalent weight of the substance is called gram- equivalent weight.

gm.eq.wt. =  \frac{given \: weight}{eq.weight}

or,

gm.wt. = mole \times valency

HEY BUDDY HERE IS UR ANSWER !!!

  • The unit of equivalent weight is the atomic mass unit ; the amount of a substance in grams numerically equal to the equivalent weight is called a gram equivalent.
  • Hydrogen has atomic weight 1.008 (rounded to three decimal places) and always assumes valence 1 in compounds, so its equivalent weight is 1.008.
  • Equivalent weight is the mass of one equivalent, that is the mass of a given substance which will combine with or displace a fixed quantity of another substance.
  • The equivalent weight of an element is the mass which combines with or displaces 1.008 gram of hydrogen or 8.0 grams of oxygen or 35.5 grams of chlorine.
