Resistance in series = R1 +R2.....
Resistance in parallel =1/R1+ 1/R2.....

patilshraddha49: You can find TOTAL RESISTANCE in aParallel circuit with the followingformula: 1/Rt = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 + ... " Before we get into the calculations, remember what we said at the start of this section: "The total resistance of aparallel circuit is NOT equal to the sum of the resistors (like in a series circuit).

Resistance in series =R1 +R2 +R3.....
DERIVATION

According to ohms law..
Potential difference = resistance × current
V = R × I
I remains same
V is divided
V = V1 + V2 + V3....
V1 = R1×I ,V2= R2×I ,V3 =R3×I
Rs × I =R1×I + R2×I +R3×I
I (Rs) =I (R1+R2+R3)
Rs = R1+R2+R3

~ The equivalent resistance us equal to sum of individual resistance.
~It is more than the largest individual resistance

I hope it helps you
