An electric fuse is used to cut off the circuit when excess energy is passed through it.....generally metals having low mwlting points are used to make fuse wires

An electronic fuse is a safety device used to save d electrical appliances.
the fuse is placed in series with the device.
it is made up of an alloy with low melting point for eg. lead n tin.
if a current larger than d specified value flows through d current, d temperature of the fuse wire increases.this melts the fuse wire n breaks d circuit.
the fuse wire is usually enclosed in a cartridge of porcelain or similar material with metal ends . the fuses used for domestic purposes r stated as 1A, 2A , 3A , 4A, ,5A , 10A, etc.
