Y chromosome - Wikipedia Males have one Y chromosome and one X chromosome, while females have two X chromosomes. In mammals, the Y chromosome contains a gene, SRY, which triggers embryonic development as a male. The Y chromosomes of humans and other mammals also contain other genes needed for normal sperm production.

Hii..
XY chromosomes denote the sex chromosomes of the father..
If the offspring is a girl it will have XX chromosomes..X from mother and another X from father.
If the offspring is a boy then it will have XY
X again from mother and this tym Y from father..
y chromosome determines sex of the offspring..
hope this helps!!
