Answer:

Alkynes is a hydrocarbon in which 2 carbon atoms are connected by a triple bond. Therefore, The simplest alkyne will have 2 carbon atoms in its molecule.

The general formula for alkynes is :-  CnH2n-2       ( n = 2,3,4,5.......)

According to the no. of carbon atoms, we have -

Meth, eth , prop , but , pent , hex , hept , oct ,non , dec

( we won't use Meth , As the simplest Alkyne will have 2 carbon atoms and Meth is used for 1 carbon atom , hence , we'll directly use eth. )

Substitute the value of n = 2 in the formula , U'll get ,

C2H2

For the nomenclature of the above compound ,

Add 'yne' as the primary suffix to the no. of carbon atoms used -

Above we used 2 carbon atoms , therefore, the name of the compound would be :- Eth + yne = Ethyne

Hope it helps u ...^_^
