stephen leacock, beig a humorist, deals with the theme where the elements of humor is paramount...in case, he has choosen the theme of small amount of money that we often borrow from other and forget to return..the reason is that it is too small an amount...but when a friend remembers the money lent ,it then creats a problem for him / her...as he or she can neither ask directly nor digest the fact that he has lost that dollar....thus there are two ironys in this lesson....1)friendship --we can borrow small amont of money only from friends and tend to forget it as we take friends for granted and do not care about returning such small amount of money that we borrow...2)hypocrisy --we often think that the dollar that our friend borrowed from us should be given back..,wjile we ourselves muet have unconsciously forgotten such small amoumt borrowed from our friends..thus while we want others to act responsibly, we often donot do so ourselves...thus the author humorously suggests "back to honesty" moment..hope this helped pl mark as brainliest
