We have to find the HCF (Highest Common Factor) of the lengths of the two chocolate bars, in order to get the length of the maximum length of equal pieces.

So, HCF of the lengths is :

6 = 2×3

8 = 2×2×2

Common factor = 2

So, HCF = 2

Which means we can obtain a max. length of 2cm for the equal pieces that can be obtained from 2 bars.

(6÷2 = 3 equal pieces from first bar ; 8÷2 = 4 equal pieces from second bar)
