dishagaur748: ya sure , as we know that a valence shell can have max. 8 electrons so , if there is 1 electron in valence shell , valency is 1 ;if 2 then valencey is 2; if 3 then valency is 3 ;if 4 then valency is 4; if 5 then the valency comes out to be 8-5=3 , of 6 then 3 ;if seven then 1 and if 8 then it is 0
dishagaur748: we do 8-5 if there are 5 electrons because an atom has loose a lot of energy to loose 5 electrons then to take 4 electrons , hence we take 4 electrons ..
dishagaur748: in the case of 7 electrons also the atom has to loose a lot of energy to give 7 electrons then to take 1 electrons to complete its valence shell.
