It means ,
Let's understand with an example,
Price of an object is $400 n same is written,
Then the discount is like -
First 50% discount on the cost price I.e. $200 off
Then 50% off on the "discounted" price I.e. 50% off on $200
Hence final price is $100
n discount you got is 75%
