IT IS PROTECTIVE IN SECRETION OF THE MUCOUS MEMBRANES.IT LIBRACATES THE PASSAGE OF FOOD AND PROTECTS THE EPETHELIAL CELLS IN THE NOSE AND THROAT AND LUNGS IT CAN MAKE IT DIFFICULT FOR BACTERIA TO PENETRATE THE BODY THROUGH THE EPITHELIUM.
