It is the bulk of a substance. In animals, a parenchyma comprises the functional parts of an organ and in plants parenchyma is the ground tissue of nonwoody structures.

Parenchyma

In a cell, few layers form the basic packaging of a tissue. This tissue is known as Parenchyma. It consists of thin cell walls and relatively unspecialised cells. The cells are alive and they are loosely packed, this is becuase intercellular spaces are found in this tissue. It plays a vital role in Photosynthesis. Parenchyma is then divided into Aerenchyma and Chlorenchyma.
