Pressure means the amount of push or pull action that is being done in the normal direction on a surface.  It is like some weight or heaviness that is felt by the surface of an object.

Pressure is the result of contact force.  It is equal to  force applied per unit area on the surface.

In liquids pressure is the force with which a small liquid element tries to push other liquid elements.  That exists  in all directions.
