Reservation in India is where a percentage of seats are blocked in central, state, public and private educational Institutions. In India people in old times were divided based on their occupation like teaching and Praying (Brahmins), business (vyashyas),Kingship and war(Kshatriyas) etc. but today those categories are recognized based on castes like SC,ST,BC,OC etc.

India being a developing country holds majority of population who are still suffering from economic backwardness. Right to Education, Employment and Freedom are few rights which we enjoy as citizens of India in democratic state.so to provide an equal opportunity of education,   Employment etc. government has introduced few reservations for each category to help them have an equality in the society.

Today most of the children in rural India are getting education because of the different schemes provided by Government in their economic Upliftment. Reservations have helped many individuals from under-privileged communities to grow and occupy top positions in leading industries. Reservations helps in providing social justice by bringing poor and rich on the equal platform. When there is growth in literacy rate it is certain that India will also grow in its economic Stability.

The need for reservation is linked with the fact that the backward caste need more special priviledges to come at par with the general caste.

During the formation of constituition, H.J. Khandekar clealy said that they were too focused in serving the upward caste hat they left the dalits and other backward caste and so they required special priveldeges, which led to the arisal of reservations of seats.
