Scattering is the phenomenon of splitting of a beam of white light into its seven constituent colours. When light passes through the atmosphere, all the big particles present in the atmosphere scatter the light rays having shorter wavelengths such as violet and indigo. While, blue light rays are still scattering. That's why, blue colur is visible to us.
