Thompson pumpudding model or watermelon theory says atom is positive charge and electron in atom like in watermelon seeds
but after alpha particle experiment Rutherford confirm there is a tiny area in atom ie a football in centre of a field carry proto carry positive charge and electron move around them like solar system

The point difference between the place of electron in the atomic models of Thomson and Rutherford's is :-

RUTHERFORD -

1. He was able to reach to dense nucleus in between but at the same time could not explain the stability.

2. he explained electrons were embedded uniformly in a positively charged matrix.

THOMSON -

1. He called model similar to the apple pie
the model explained that electrons are fully spread over the protons to explain the neutrality of atom
this could not explain it .

2. He could not explain stability of electron.
