When 2-methyl 2 chloro butane is reacts with alkaline KOH / pottasium hydroxide , 2-methyl-2-butanol is formed

• Here 2-methyl 2 chloro butane has 1 chloride ion which is replaced by hydroxide ion and finally formed 2-methyl-2-butanol

• Alkyl halides reacts with aqueous pottasium hydroxide to form alcohol. The halogen atom is substituted by hydroxide ion group.

and thus the total reaction is happened.
