Both of the circumstances are proved when Antonio did not hesitate to give 3000 ducats borrowed from a person he hates and the most shrewd and cruel moneylender Shylock. Bassanio also proved worthy of the friendship by trying to save Antonio from death from the hands of Shylock. The contract Shylock and Antonio was overdue and Antonio couldn't pay the 3000 ducats he owed to Shylock. Bassanio tried to save his life by offering quadruple times the amount of money needed. But, Shylock did not accept the money; he only wanted the 1 pound of flesh he asked for. It was the intelligence of Portia, the newly-wed bride of Bassanio who used her intelligence to save Antonio's life. Both of them proved to each other that their friendship was worthy enough to each other.
