Forests is where large number of trees are present. The plants obtain water for their growth. When excess water is taken by the plant it gets rid of excess water through leaves in the form of water vapor(process called transpiration).
This process takes place only in the presence of sunlight. Thus, the water vapor undergoes condensation and precipitation(rain fall) takes place. This is the role of forest in water cycle.
