The pituitary gland produces the following hormones and releases them into the bloodstream;adrenocorticotropic hormone, which stimulates the adrenal glands to secrete steroid hormones,principally cortisol.They act on the ovaries or testes to stimulate sex hormone production,and egg and sperm maturity.
