Awareness of the program is an issue as higher awareness could have made it much more successful. According to a study of consumer rights in India, just 42 per cent have heard about consumer rights and almost 50 per cent of consumers are not even aware about government's 'Jago Grahak Jago' campaign.
But still there seems to be better awareness than earlier, considering that five years ago only 18 per cent were aware about the Act. I think the Government should take up educating the masses on ways to implement this programme and also harp on its various benefits. People should be made to feel confident in the consumer redressal mechanisms.
