Tropical cyclone forecasting is science of forecasting where tropical cyclone's center and its effects are expected to be some point in future.  

There are many elements to tropical cyclone forecasting: track forecasting, intensity forecasting, rainfall forecasting and seasonal forecasting.  

When skill is increasing in respect to track forecasting, intensity forecasting skill stays nearly unchanged over last year.  

Seasonal forecasting started in 1980s in Atlantic basin and spread in other basins in the years.
