What is the use of pirchase return and sales return for the calculatio. of net purchase and net sales?

purchase return will deduct from total purchase to find net purchase ...and the sale return will deduct from total sale to find net sale...

To find net purchases we need to deduct purchase returns from purchases and same way To find net sales  we need to deduct sales returns from purchases.
