Valency of helium is zero although it contains 2 electrons in it's outer most orbit. this is due to it's stability which prevents it to lose or gain of it's electrons.

The valency of helium is 0.

Explanation:

  • Valency is defined as the number of electrons that an atom can gain, lose or share. Helium has filled the outermost shell. It does not exchange or share electrons to form bonds with any other molecules.
  • Helium has one shell (k) which requires two electrons and helium having two-electron so the outermost shell is completely filled and helium has zero valency. Therefore its valency is taken as zero.
