Thermite Reaction

★Chemical Reaction between Iron oxide and aluminium,in which the latter is reduced to iron

★The reaction is highly exothermic in nature,such that the iron produced is obtained in molten state

2Al(s) + Fe2O3(s)==============> 2Fe(l) + Al2O3(s)

★This mixture is used to make railway tracks

★It also helps in fixing mechanical parts of broken machinery

Thermite is a pyrotechnic composition of metal powder and metal oxide. When ignited by heat, thermite undergoes an exothermic reduction-oxidation reaction. Most varieties are not explosive, but can create brief bursts of heat and high temperature in a small area.
