Waves consist of oscillations or vibrations of a physical medium or a field, around relatively fixed locations.

Combination of a creast and through forms a wave in physics.

Types of waves:

Transverse Waves

In a transverse wave the particle displacement is perpendicular to the direction of wave propagation.

Longitudinal Waves

In a longitudinal wave the particle displacement is parallel to the direction of wave propagation.
