What is your opinion about making a statue of 3000 crore.
STATUE of UNITY .
Good or Bad
Answers
Yo!
Here's the answer!
STATUE OF UNITY,IS NOW THE TALLEST STATUE IN THE WORLD. Cool, isn't it? But there are a few pros and cons.
Starting from the POSITIVE SIDE, that statue would attract a lot of tourists and improve the tourism industry of that state.Lot of businesses can thrive better because of increase in tourism.
But on a NEGATIVE SIDE, it's situated in Gujarat's Kevadiya, which's NOT such a popular place for tourists to explore, as compared to Mumbai,Delhi, etc.
The Statue of Unity was built at an estimated $430 million. Most of this money came from the government and public sector companies.
It also drew massive disappointment. Many believe that the money could have been used in infrastructure development, education, and healthcare in the country and for the welfare of farmers.
WHAT PEOPLE HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS-(NEGATIVE VIEWS)
1.No proper sanitation and cleanliness, bad roads. Sardar would have not liked to spend 3000 cr on himself.
2.If Statues can be built in record time, then why can't other "important" things like roads and bridges?
3.At a time when Gujarat is facing a water crisis due to lower availability in the Narmada dam, I think the statue project could have been postponed by a year.
A FEW GOOD FACTS-
Once completed, the bronze-clad statue, which was begun in 2013, will be nearly twice as tall as New York's Statue of Liberty. (Completed on 31st October-Halloween,is the date to remember! :D)
The 182m (600ft) high statue is a tribute to India’s freedom fighter and first deputy Prime Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Mr Patel was known as the "Iron Man of India" and played a significant role in persuading feuding states to unite to become part of the Indian state after independence in 1947.
The statue will be able to withstand wind velocity up to 60 metres a second, vibration and earthquake.
Now,we can only wonder what will happen,in the near future.
Hope that this helps you!
