- The prebiotic atmosphere of earth had limited or no oxygen. i.e. it was partially aerobic.

- Primitive atmosphere would be composed of gases like methane, CO, H2S, ammonia, etc.

- As the earth cooled down, water vapor condensed to form oceans.
