What length of tarpaulin 3 m wide will be required to make a conical tent of height 8 m and base radius 6 m? Assume that the extra length of material will be required for stitching margins and wastage in cutting is approximately 20 cm. (Use π=3.14).

Length of tarpaulin required = 63 m

Given :-

  • Height = 8 m
  • Base Radius = 6 m

Find the value of l :-

l² = h² + r²

  = (8)² + (6)²

  = 64 + 36

  = 100

l  = 10 m

CSA of conical tent = πrl

Substitute the values in this formula :-

CSA = 3.14 x 6 x 10

       = 188.4 m²

Now, let's calculate the length of tarpaulin required

Area of tarpaulin required = Area of tent

l x b = 188.4 m²

l x 3 = 188.4 m²

l = 188.4/3 = 62.8 m

Margin given = 20 cm = 0.2 m

Total length = 62.8 + 0.2

                        = 63 m

Answer:

Length of tarpaulin required = 63 m

Given :-

Height = 8 m

Base Radius = 6 m

Find the value of l :-

l² = h² + r²

 = (8)² + (6)²

 = 64 + 36

 = 100

l  = 10 m

CSA of conical tent = πrl

Substitute the values in this formula :-

CSA = 3.14 x 6 x 10

      = 188.4 m²

Now, let's calculate the length of tarpaulin required

Area of tarpaulin required = Area of tent

l x b = 188.4 m²

l x 3 = 188.4 m²

l = 188.4/3 = 62.8 m

Margin given = 20 cm = 0.2 m

∴ Total length = 62.8 + 0.2

                       = 63 m
