What makes mitochondria semi-autonomous in nature?​

Mitochondria is semi-autonomous because :-

  • It contain their own DNA.
  • Having cytochromes ETS for ATP synthesis.
  • Mitochondria is arise from pre existing ones from division i.e.

not de novo.

  • Having DNA forming protien used in making their own membranes. But enzymes in mitochondria are coded by nuclear DNA ( therefore mitochondria is not fully autonomus it is semiautonomus).
